I remembered when my daughter was young she loved to play hide and seek. Come to think of it, all my children did. As a father, I would easily find her giving away her hideout sometimes with noise and other times some parts of her exposed or not properly hidden. To make the game more exciting, I would ask, "Where are you hiding?" or declare, "I am coming!"
To know the whereabouts was not the key point of the game. To make the game exciting FOR her was. We can sense this right at the beginning of the book of Genesis 3:8-9. It is not what God wants from you but what God has for you.
Although the motivation of the hiding was different between a game and the shame, God is all-knowing somehow chose to relate to Adam and Eve in a way that was at their level. God asked, "Where art thou?". This simple fact reveals so much about a God that is so much like a good father relating to his children. He remembered all that He created was good and He still does today.
When we stop hiding, we come straight into the presence of God who seeks us out - even today.

May we respond to the God who seeks us out and stop hiding when He calls.
