In Deuteronomy 5, we have a summary of the accounts when the 10 commandments was delivered to the people of God the Israelites. The Israelites were fearful because they survived the presence of the Lord speaking to them. They made a promise to obey the Lord. Immediately after the event, the people were instructed to go back to their tents and that was when Moses remained in the presence of God for more instructions. Moses were asked to, "Stand Thou By Me". V31. Remember Moses just received and delivered the 10 commandments after standing by God for 40 days? How much more time had he to stay to complete Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy? He must have enjoyed the Lord's presence like no other. We learnt that Moses was a meek man - Number 12:3 and he was greatly used by God to deliver Israel and prepare them for the promised land. He spent 40 years in Egypt as a prince, 40 years in tendering sheep and 40 years in the exodus. Moses stood by God. May we also learn this important lesson.
