You have seen the humorous Tee shirt from Singapore stating that Singapore is a
Fine City. Many believed that the reason for people to remain obedient is to avoid paying the fine. This is true everywhere in the world.
We face a fine at any point in time we break a certain law. It does not concern with how many times we obeyed the law but the point we break it. Even if it is the first time we break that law.
Will people change if they know that there is a
greater fine to pay if we committed wrong against God? The bible is clear that indeed God will not let sin go unpunished. Hebrews 2:3-4.
How then can this fine be paid? We are humans and we are prone to commit sin. It would be unjust if cannot pay for the fine in practical ways.
In the time of old, people sacrifice the blood of animals as payment for their sins. Some religions still practice these rituals today. However, the Bible tells us that Jesus was the sacrifice that paid the fine once for all so that we by believing, following and trusting Him will enter into life - a new life free from the burden of debt that we owe to God.
Have your fine been paid?
