Every disciple of Jesus must know the difference between trials and temptation. It helps to prepare us so that we can respond to them instead of reacting to them. Trials are usually tough times a believer face and strength is needed to persist in it. We are cornered to throw in the towel or to lower our moral standards. Trials can train us towards perseverance and extraordinary strength. Trials can be of God. Temptations usually trigger our lust to sin. It plants a desire in our hearts and causes us to sin with our will. Temptation is not of God because God does not tempt us - James 1. We can be tempted with our flesh (urges and needs), the world (what we desire to have or own), or the Devil (with baits including our bodily needs, the world, or power). May the Lord give us the strength to go through trials and help us escape temptations. At the time of Glorification, the presence of sin will be eliminated.
