What has a piece of cake got to do with God? Absolutely everything. Recorded for us were Elijah, a man, and prophet of God whose prayers God listened and answered. God arranged a widow to keep Elijah. She was a poor widow. So poor that she was prepared to have her last meal and die. Elijah met her and asked for a piece of cake. Most of us sadly cannot identify with the widow these days. The piece of cake is like giving away one shoe when you have only a pair or 4 tires when you have only 1 car. The cake was her last meal. To depart from the piece of cake was unthinkable. Yet her offering of the piece of cake she had opened up a journey of miracles others can only read about. She had no lack from then on and she even witnesses raising of her dying child which erased all her doubts about God and His prophet. 1 King 17:8-24 May we learn what to do with the piece of cake in our hands.
