Ezekiel 4 recorded for us that prophet Ezekiel was to bake a cake with a God-given recipe. We shall leave that part where the cake should be baked with human dung in verse 12. The recipe was given to the people of that time for survival. Ingredients stated were known for being economical and also long shelf life. It was given to help people survive the drought. How did a generous and loving God resort to giving His people such poor tasting recipe? Wasn't that supposed to be milk and honey? The answer is God has a greater purpose for His people. God must be His people's first priority. No amount of good things must supersede the Giver Himself. The issue with men is we want the gifts and we forget the Giver. We don't see much of those lessons in our days but may we learn from history that was recorded for us. They should remind us how fortunate we are in the time of church age which Christ Jesus had laid His precious blood for.
