Is your heart troubled this Christmas?

Christmas is coming in a few day's time and it is a good season to remember our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His coming caused many hearts to trouble. Herold and the whole Jerusalem were troubled, Joseph was troubled, and Mary was troubled. All for different reasons. Herold and the people in Jerusalem were the elite of their time. The Roman Empire had given Herold to be King of Judea and those with him were enjoying a luxurious living. When the announcement was made that a new king is to be born they were troubled. The news rattled their security in wealth and power. Matthew 2. Joseph was troubled when Mary got pregnant by the Holy Spirit. He wanted to protect the dignity of Mary and thought of leaving her though they were engaged. That kind of news should trouble any husband to be. Comfort came when the Angel of The Lord spoke to Joseph and he was able to carry on the relationship with Mary, with a changed perspective. Matthew 1. Mary was troubled when the news that she would bear the Savior came to her. "How can it be? Why am I chosen?" These thoughts must be in her head over and over. God had chosen a simple woman to fulfill His promise. The low has been exalted on high. She can do nothing but to burst into praise. And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he hath sent empty away. (Luke 1:46-53 KJV) Since the time of Jesus coming, people are troubled with many reasons. May this season be a time you are troubled because the good, the hope, the grace, and the mercies of The Lord so filled your life. May it cause you to burst with thanksgiving for Christmas - A wonderful time to remember God's goodness to all mankind. Amen.
