Being Disciples

image Every Christian will encounter the great commission one day when they read Matthew 28. Making disciples was the great commission given every believer of Jesus. Today, there seemed to be confusion about what being a disciple of Jesus is about. Many stayed as a believer of Jesus. They believe Jesus came, died on the cross and rose again and for those believe in that their sins are forgiven. Many, however, do not experience a victory over habitual sin. And since they do not experience that they presume discipleship is all about growing in knowledge and even ridicule those who claimed to have victories over sins. We have seen lives have changed in our involvement in prison ministry. Jesus is more than a Savior. Jesus came to destroy the work of the devil. 1 John 3:8. If you are a believer and you set your minds in learning from the Bible, you call yourself a student. A student learns knowledge and nothing more is required of him. A disciple, however, is one who wants to be as their master. They are not contented to know teachings. They act, behave, and emulate their master. They put their heart in accomplishing that. It is definitely a life journey in the power of the Holy Spirit.
May we learn to be a disciple. Asking tough questions that matter to the Lord. Measuring ourselves not against each other but against the word of God. Do we love the Lord? Are we mere students of the Bible? Do we emulate Jesus? Being disciples is what really matters because only disciples can make other disciples.
