Unreasonable can be read in two ways. You can read it as irrational or you can read it as extravagant.
There are many stories (histories) in the Bible pointing to God as an extravagant God.
God chose Abram with no reason given. God chose Jacob above Esau with no reasoning. God exalted Joseph above his brothers. God chose Moses and delivered the Israelites from Egypt. God grant Joshua countless victories. God raised many deliverers in the time of judges and God raised prophets in the time when the kingdom of Israel and Judah were in deep trouble. God sent Jesus who died for sinners.
Was God reasonable? No. He just gave grace after grace. Perhaps it is because He remembered we are humans and without Him, we can do nothing.
Let us then remember that we have received such grace to respond according to the grace we have received freely. All for the glory of God who is unreasonably good.
