Elijah was one of the greatest prophets written in the scripture. It is very natural for us to attributed his greatness to the event where Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal. We often associate greatness with big achievements.
However, if you read the scripture carefully, spiritual giants are those who can distinguish the voice of God from the surrounding noise. They are the ones who can hear God speaking to them and act accordingly.
The writer in 1 King 19:11-13 told us that Elijah was able to hear God's still small voice in the midst of strong winds that break rocks and earthquakes. Most of us could hardly hear anything less a still small voice. That is the art of listening to God which many of us must cultivate these days. Our ear can have an amazing capacity to differentiate voice from noise but many of us are just not paying attention.
May we start spending time learning to listen to God. Read and reflect to start off your day. The day will come when you need to differentiate voice from noise.
