In times of disputes or misunderstanding, we often seek some form of prior conversation or agreement. It makes things easy to have a text message, email or letter to clarify the misunderstanding or dispute. My country term this, "Black and white".
"Do you have a black and white?" is often the question asked and usually it ends the dispute quickly if there is any form of written confirmation provided.
The second person of the triune God (Christ Jesus) was entitled to the Word of God. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7
Another of such title is the Holy Bible. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16.
God in His wisdom had since the beginning of time established His word in black and white. Christ Jesus affirmed this when he replied to the devil in the wilderness that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. This is the very reason why every believer in Christ Jesus should learn the word of God in black and white.
The word is also subjected to interpretation, it should not be used out of context. Eg. Jeremiah 29:11 was quoted in the context of the Jew being captured by the Babylonians. The Lord used Jeremiah to urge the Jews at that time to live life normally in the enemy's territory instead of fighting them. God has allowed them to be captured for 70 years and His plan was to be fulfilled.
The Bible also forecasts the future. That is God's promises and will one day come to pass, every single one of it. That gives us hope.
May we stay true to the black and white of God's word. May we find comfort in its promises, hope in its revelation and strength in its faithfulness.
