Many years back, I was offered a chance to go for a course in Australia. It was during my Airforce days. I was given until the end of the day to decide but I wasn't sure my wife was ready to spend 9 months alone as a newlywed. After a discussion with her, I got back to my superior about my interest to attend the course but the offer was already given to someone else. I felt disappointed but it was clear that I had to make the decision before the end of yesterday and not after. It was too late.
I share this because we often choose to believe that we have time to settle what needs to be settled now. We are quick to push aside issues and decisions that require our attention now. Often, this habit of pushing aside cost us something. I would like to add that technology did not help as the issue is the mindset. We brush reminders aside the same way we brush aside the reminding whisper in our mind.
Song of Solomon 5:2 "I was asleep but my heart was awake. A voice! My beloved was knocking: 'Open to me, my sister, my darling, My dove, my perfect one! For my head is drenched with dew, My locks with the damp of the night.' Proverbs 1:28 "Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me,The scriptures continue to remind us that we should be taking steps before it is too late. Because being late is tragic but it can be avoided.
Our Lord Jesus called us to follow Him. He assured us He will never leave or forsake us. Are you willing to follow Him this very moment?
May we learn to respond immediately to the call of our Lord and to do His bidding every moment of our life. May we take action now before it's too late.
