The word yoke is used more than a dozen times in the Bible. A yoke is used on the necks of 2 animals so that they can together perform a greater task. When the yoke is used, it usually reminds us of the burden and load. It also brings to mind hardship.
Jesus declared that His yoke is not burdensome in Matthew 11:28-30. When someone comes to know Jesus, He promised to lighten their burden. This makes me reflect upon the people with who I have worked. In Christ we are yokefellows, carrying each other's burden and lighten the load of each other. This raised a question what if I am
sinking under my own weight? Could we then lay a burden on our fellow workers?
It is through this that I consider many areas of my service. Do I release others of their burden, or do I lay upon them a greater yoke?
If our Lord Jesus promised a lighter yoke, we have no reason to add to the greater load. Do you agree? Learn not to sink under your own weight, rather, seek to lighten our fellow worker's load.
