Midwives had trouble times during the era of Moses. Pharaoh instructed the midwives that all-male birth was to be put to death during the time of birth. The midwives told tales that Hebrew mothers were strong and hence they had no opportunity to commit the murder. The midwives feared God and opt to lie to the vicious Pharaoh instead of killing innocent children. In both cases, it was a tough decision.
