One of the toughest chapters of the Bible is chapter 6 of Luke. The passage is easy to read and understand but difficult to apply.
Jesus insisted that a disciple must live above sinners or non-followers. He gave many examples to emphasize His point.
One must have compassion above the law. V9
Jesus then proclaimed blessings on the less fortunate and woe to the rich, a vast difference to our generation when riches are considered blessings.
He then showed the listeners the way to live. To love enemies, bless them, pray for them and be generous above measures to them.
After which Jesus made a remarkable statement that believers should live above the ways of sinners.
Last but not least, one is to apply these to oneself before making demands of others. As the fruit will tell the quality of the tree.
Spiritual heavyweights are results of small daily disciplines to do God's will. May we start with little today.
