In Singapore, it is common one uses this phrase, "Confirm?" In place of the question, "Are you sure? " and the reply for sure is, "Double confirm." This form of asking and replying is uniquely Singaporean. We call this Singlish. Double confirm comes from being very sure of. Confirmed, chopped, and signed. We seek this answer on a regular basis. The story of Gideon in Judges 6 tells us that Gideon was a person who did not act without being sure. Once he was certain, he acted courageously what he was tasked to do. In the record, Gideon seeks for a specific sign from the Lord. He then asked for "double confirm" - another sign from the Lord. In most other stories, doing so always leads to consequences. However, in Gideon's case, the Lord obliged and he was given 2 signs. We read later that Gideon was faithful in carrying out the tasks set for him. He was later used to defeat the enemies with only 300 men.

May we never cease to ask the Lord to "double confirm" His assignment for us.
