The Israelites were instructed to observe the Jubilee which includes freeing slaves and resting lands. After six years of everything, a year of solemn rest was to be observed. It was known as the Sabbath of Solemn rest. The Israelites failed to observe this instruction for more than 500 years. Prophet Jeremiah in chapter 34 proclaimed that God Himself will bring forth liberty to the land. Jeremiah 34:17 KJV Therefore thus saith the Lord ; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in proclaiming liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbour: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the Lord , to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. May we learn from history that God always fulfills His word and commands. If men refused to participate in His plans, He Himself will bring them to completion.
