We see the importance of supporting actors in a film. Supporting actors are not main casts but they are there to spice up the story and often to elevate the character of the main cast.
As believers, it is easy to fall into the idea that life is about us and God is the supporting actor and everything He does is for us to shine. After we have shined we will then give God back the glory. This understanding is warped because the God of the Bible has always been the main cast from the book of Genesis to Revelation. We happen to be a supporting actor and if I may put it bluntly an extra in this long reality show.
Think about the work of God for thousands of years without you. Has His glory ever diminish a little? Think about the plans He promised to fulfill without you, aren't they been carried out without fail? Think about the kingdoms come and go, isn't God the one who decided?
I hope every believer will come to understand that we are but a supporting actor and never the main cast. Our role is that Christ can be elevated while we live on earth. May we play our role well so that the main cast Jesus Christ may receive the glory right in our time. If indeed we play our parts well, that is privileged.
James 4:14 KJV
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
