Right Side of the Blood

The Passover feast reminds the Israelites that God had delivered them out of slavery from the Egyptians. This feast served as a reminder to the Israelites that they should never forget the deliverance of God. The Passover commemorates the Last plague which was the death of the firstborn in Egypt. Just as Pharaoh took the lives of the male of the Israelites, death came that night to Egypt to take away the lives of their firstborn. Before the plague came, the Israelites were told to splatter the sacrificial lamb blood on their doorposts. Everyone has to remain inside of their blood-stained door to be saved from the plague. The Israelites were to stay on the right side of the blood. Crossing to the wrong side of the blood the firstborn shall experience no protection. Exodus 11-12 Today Jesus's precious blood atoned for the sins of the world as told in John 3:16. The blood delivers us from sin just as God delivered the Israelites from Egypt. There is nothing we can do to add to the work of Jesus on the cross. However, we have to stay on the right side of the blood. John 15 summed it nicely. We are to remain or abide in Christ Jesus. Verse 6 spelled it clearly - if a man abides not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. Jesus made no attempt to give a vivid picture of what kind of vine or branches He was referring to. He spoke clearly and simply in this case and every literate person need not argue about what He meant. Remain or abide in Him is clearly defined in verse 10-12. People freak out these days when God's commandments are mentioned. What can be wrong about the command such as loving one another? It is unthinkable for believers of God to regard His commands as evil. God is good and His instructions can never be evil but they do expose the evil of men.
May we ever love Jesus and others the way Jesus loved us. May we learn to remain at the right side of the blood.
