One of the greatest issues with human is to blame. Blaming another had a long history in the Bible. The disobedient Adam blamed Eve and disobedient Eve blamed the serpent. Indirectly they were blaming the creator God. God created Eve as a helper for Adam. Hence when Adam blamed Eve, the woman God gave him became the reason why things happened the way it did. God created all the animals including the serpent. Hence when Eve blamed the serpent, the fault was with God the creator of the serpent. Blame sees the fault outside oneself. In blaming, we fail to see the result of a wrong choice is done by none other than self.
Both Adam and Eve failed to realize that choices are something they were blessed with. The choice was such an important gift and without it, there is no true freedom. True freedom must be exercised within boundaries to protect others.
How much suffering and broken relationships can be mended today if we admit our wrongs and stop blaming the other party for the consequences we are facing?
"I did not grow because the church did not do its part in feeding me." " I did not experience God because our spouse is not supportive of my ministry." "I have no success in bringing people to our Lord because people are hardened." All these statements will not bring an inch of transformation in my life.
Break your own heart and transformation will take place. 2 Kings 22:11 Transformation came when King Josiah tore his garment as a sign of blaming himself for not being aware of God's abandoned law. Hosea 4:4 speaks of not point faults at others.
May we learn the destruction of blame and not to walk in it.
