I don't know about you but a misaligned steering wheel gets into my nerves. There are many reasons that cause a misaligned steering wheel but we are not going to talk about it now. What disturbs me when I drive a car with misaligned steering is that the car does not travel in a straight line when I put the steering wheel in the neutral position. Some call this veering. The car only travels straight when I hold the steering at a certain angle either slightly to the right or to the left. I was thinking about a session I did about repentance recently and somehow it brought me to the veering issue. We, like the misaligned steering wheel, veer off course constantly when we are in a neutral position. We made decisions and harbor thoughts not consist of the moral compass God has given us. This is what the Bible calls sin. Sin is veering from the truth, the way or the life as Our Lord Jesus describes himself in John 14:6. To follow Him is to stay on His course. It is hence important to spend time to realign our thoughts and actions with God which help us make conscience decision instead of letting life go on an auto cruise. Life in an auto cruise will surely veer. Hence as believers of Christ, we are constantly encouraged to read scripture, obey its teachings, to prayers, and to fellowship. All these help us to realign our lives so that we can reflect the image of God.

May we recognise that we are constantly veering from God. May we stay on the course daily.
