TECHNICIAN VIEW OF THE PARABLES

I am a camera lens technician. One of the most dreadful even as a technician is to drop a screw. Especially a small screw. Small screws can be as tiny as 1mm. If you failed to see where it landed when you dropped it, you will likely be spending a lot of time looking for it. At times, you cannot even find it. Replacement needs to be ordered and including shipment, it would take up to days before you can move on to the next step.

When Jesus spake of the parables of the lost sheep and lost coin in Luke 15, a technician can immediately identify with it. Jesus spoke of a lost sheep and a lost coin in Luke 15:4-10. Many of us may have difficulties identifying with the lost sheep and the lost coin because we are neither farmer or dowry keeper.

As a technician, I can identify with the joy when a lost item is found. Especially when I need the item immediately. Both the parables remind us of that kind of joy. The heartbeat of our Lord goes beyond sheep, coin or screws.

Both the parables ended with the joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repent. We can see the heart of God is for lost souls. That is why our Lord Jesus gave the great commandments. To save souls!

May we identify with God that there are many lost souls. May we have the urgency to look for them as God do. May we speak the Gospel boldly that some may be found.
