Don’t Insult My Wife!

Inspired by Pastor Greg Laurie. Husband and wife have a unique relationship. This relationship calls for protection, provision, and bonding like no other. This bond is so special that the Bible calls it oneness. Imagine how would you react if your wife were insulted or spoken ill of? Would it trigger anger or even wrath in some circumstances? We learned that God regards His church as His bride. The husband are to love his wife as Christ loves the church. This is a special relationship in the eyes of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus had done everything to institute the church. Yet today we have many Christian who claimed to love God to an extent that the imperfection of the church becomes an eyesore. They even speak ill of it. Yes, no doubt many churches are not perfect at this point in time because they are made up of imperfect people. The church is likened to a peasant taken to be a royal bride. She has much to learn, much to change and much to adjust to. Some of her habits weren't even fit for her brand new status. But the Bridegroom loved her. He gave everything up for her, even His very life. This really struck me. Many times we were not careful when we spoke ill of the church or maybe someone in the church. We have patience more for the heathens than the bride of Christ. Many of us might have committed this wrong against our Savior many times. Aren't we speaking ill against ourselves because we are part of the church too? Can one really love God and detest the church? May we learn to stop  hurtling insult at the church before Jesus respond, "Don't insult my wife!"
