Golf

I had a coffee with a friend this morning and he was so enthusiastic about the game of Golf. I do not play golf but he kept interest me with the explanation about the game. The memory brought me back to something another friend of mine said about Golf. While one has no problem hitting a fastball like in tennis, squash, and table tennis, some have problem hitting the stationary ball in Golf. The game requires a lot of discipline. From the grip to the swing together with the coordination of the body, getting it all right at the same time is the key to get the golf ball to the direction you want it to go. You cannot hurry and get good shots consistently. A phone call can disturb that particular shot. You meet with rough patches no matter how good you are. The way you played yesterday is completely different from yesterday. The rule of giving way, minimum disturbance to others while they tee, and asking permission to cross the field are all good basic disciplines of the game. Best of all the character of a player is obvious during the game. Somehow this sharing relates me to the Christian walk. You enjoy the walk while not forgetting the goal of glorifying God, you master the importance of consistency with the word with prayers,  practicing it again and again to perfection. You give others a chance to share their journey and growth. You can't hurry or you will miss what God has installed for you. When rough patches come your way you get it out without giving up. Today's walk is not the same as yesterday's. There are tools the Lord given to deliver you out of any situation.
May we live life passionately with God like my friend who is so passionate about the game of Golf.
