This was a point of view (POV) version of Daniel 5:1-29 I have written years ago in a journal. The atmosphere of celebration was in the air. The kingdom was flowing with wine and royalties of Belshazzar. He was of good spirit that we have not witnessed for some time. People around partied like never before until Belshazzar decided to bring out the golden vessels which were taken out of the temple of the house of God from Jerusalem. There were whispers that it was not a good idea. God of the Jew should not be templed with. However, no one spoke up since it was a rare occasion of celebration. Deep down in our hearts however, we felt uneasy to mess with God is Israel. But we all feared the king. The celebration went on again when nothing seems to happen when the king and his concubines drank with the sacred vessel - praising the gods of gold and silver. Everyone's heart stopped beating when we saw fingers writing on the plaster of the wall. No one was able to read the writings but in our hearts, we know that something serious is going to happen. The king was scared to death and his face turned pale as a piece of white paper. We all were trembling with fear as we witness the writings from beginning to the end. No one moved. The party was over. Wise men were summoned to interpret the writings but no one could do so. It was a trying moment. Chaos and murmuring filled the place. The queen came and she recommended Daniel. Everyone knows this man who feared God and prayed often. Somehow, we all in the kingdom knew he would be able to understand the writings on the wall. Daniel desired no reward of any kind. He came and glanced at the writings. At the end of the sentence he uttered, I knew our kingdom is over. "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin", This is the interpretation of the thing: Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. Peres; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians. Those were the last words king Belshazzar heard. That very night our kingdom was taken and king Belshazzar slain. When God's hand is against you. You are a Goner. Hebrews 10:31.
