Romans 12:2 KJV
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
A very familiar verse from the Bible but what does it mean?
The Israelite was so familiar with the life in Egypt that each time they face a trial they wanted to go back. They were determined to be better slaves than to be free.
In the book of Hebrew Paul urged the Jewish Christian not to look back but to move on inspire of the coming trials. They wanted to be better law abiders than to live in the freedom of grace.
We can easily become conformers to the world even after we become Jesus followers. We need to expect from God the spirit of a transformer. Not to become better sinners but a brand new creature.
May we learn to be transformed starting with the right belief about God and who He is. He is capable to transform our lives.
