What do you set your eyes upon?

There was once a man named Simon. He was regarded as a powerful man of God but he practiced sorcery. One day he came to know about Jesus and the kingdom of God through the ministry of Apostle Philip. He became a believer and followed Apostle Philip and his team wherever they went. He noticed that the Holy Spirit was given to the people Apostle Philip laid hands on. Simon desired to have the same power. He could not contain himself one day and he asked if Philip would be so kind to give also the same power to bestow the Holy Spirit to whosoever he laid hand on. He even offered money for it. Peter rebuked Simon sharply that his heart was not right with God. He further stated that Simon should repent of that wickedness and pray for forgiveness. There is a severity in seeking gifts and power over truth. Truth is in Jesus and seeking anything else before Him constitutes a straying heart. Simon was even willing to pay for the gift. Seeking anything else besides Jesus always results in a gull of bitterness and a bond of iniquity. One must be comfortable with oneself in God. Your worth is not in the gifts you have but who you are. Simon's worth had been in his fame of being a powerful man in God. May we learn that sufficiency is in Christ alone and when you walk with Jesus, you will see His power everywhere around you. Where do you set your eyes upon? Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. Acts 8:9-25.
