Most of us love certain food from a certain food stall. Many of these stalls are no longer in operation and often we talk about how much we missed that food. At times, we would try to describe the taste of that dish from that particular stall but often than not, we do injustice to the dish. Taste cannot be best described with words.
When you start to talk about food and taste you often run into chefs. These "chefs" will quickly introduce certain key ingredients to the particular dish you discussed. Lotus flowers to the Rojak (a mixed dish with prawn source), hot oil on steamed fish, and cold water for chicken rice preparation were just some tips given.
That leads us to a spiritual question. What is the key ingredient in walking with God? The answer can be found in the ancient sacred record - the Bible.
“Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:12-13 (bold mine).
The key ingredients written here is to search for God with all our heart. That means it cannot be an occasional endeavor or neither can it be without effort. Our Olympic Gold medalist Joseph Schooling certainly understands the pursuit of goal with all his heart. That kind of mindset is the key ingredient in our spiritual pursuit.
May we not be contented with our nominal spiritual attitude. May we include the key ingredient (all our heart) in our relationship with God.
